Euroleague for Life Sciences PhD Summer School now open for registration
The 2025 Euroleague for Life Sciences Summer School will take place 10-16 May in Pieve Tesino, Italy. Participants will have the opportunity to gain knowledge from leading forestry experts, take part in field excursions, and engage in hands-on exercises with the EFISCEN-space model.
This edition of the summer school focuses on adapting to increasing pressures from climate change and natural disturbances, as well as addressing the urgent need for forest restoration. The program will explore how sudden disturbances can shape restoration activities, both locally and across Europe.
During the week, participants will:
- Learn how to use remote sensing-based tools for detecting disturbances,
- Understand the role of computer-based decision support systems in forest management,
- Model tree species selection for forest restoration,
- Evaluate research results from case studies and scientific literature on forest restoration.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to identify and understand the scientific and technical challenges arising from large-scale disturbances in specific case studies.
The summer school is organized by ForestPaths partner Wageningen University & Research and the University of Viterbo “La Tuscia”, and will feature lectures by ForestPaths partners from EFI, Wageningen University & Research, and the Technical University of Munich.
