In the context of ForestPaths' ambition to provide clear policy pathways outlining alternative trajectories for how European forests and the forest-based sector can help climate change mitigation, the project's first policy brief (part of the series ForestPaths Features) discusses forest and forest-based sector potentials and challenges.
ForestPaths' policy pathways co-creation process includes four policy labs. Based on inputs from them, the project will identify and analyse the narratives surrounding the policy pathways, and will identify their outcomes, enablers, barriers, synergies and trade-offs.
Through a multi-level stakeholder approach, ForestPaths is going beyond the state-of-the-art by designing, quantifying and evaluating forest-based policy pathways using a next generation modelling framework.
ForestPaths will elaborate concise but exhaustive policy recommendations. These will consider the distinct governance paradigms, policies and decision-making processes related to forest management and the forest-based sector in regional and national contexts across Europe.
