ForestPaths presents project research to IKEA representatives

6 March 2025

In the autumn of 2024, ForestPaths researchers from Lund University met with representatives of the IKEA corporation in Lund. The purpose of the visit was a showcase of ForestPaths findings and methodologies with relevance to the work of the company. In this sense, a dialogue on useful practices in forest management and monitoring was established.

More specifically, the conversation zeroed in on the models deployed as part of the project’s efforts to optimise European forests’ potential for climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. LPJ-GUESS was singled out as a platform whose characteristics could be beneficial to IKEA’s own work when it comes to managing the forests they own. Additionally, a presentation of process-based modelling approaches and their advantages was also offered.

The meeting served as a testament to the relevance and reusability of the modelling simulations run by ForestPaths for various stakeholders and into the future. More information on these project activities can be found here.
