Forests are crucial for climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation. As the future of forests is being charted, it is essential that European policy and management practices support and enhance this vital function. That is the objective the Horizon Europe projects ForestNavigator, ForestPaths and PathFinder have set for themselves, having embarked on a multi-year journey of research and collaboration. A new infographic, created by the projects, is now available to help understand the aforementioned topics.
The three projects are committed to crafting comprehensive models that showcase the potential of forests to mitigate climate change and halt biodiversity decline. Naturally, this involves an aspiration to develop novel approaches to forest monitoring that incorporate newly sourced data from a variety of sources. In another sense, forest management practices would also need adaptation to better reflect green targets, a goal the three research consortia are keen on contributing to. Such a transition extends to the forest-based sector and bioeconomy as well. Finally, the projects’ pursuit of stakeholder engagement via joint webinars, workshops and communication campaigns ensures the maximisation of their individual outreach.
Looking ahead, this spirit of cooperation will continue to be felt as the projects interact in 2025 and beyond. Stay tuned for the latest developments via this joint Linktree and the ForestTalks webinar series. You can review the full infographic below:
