The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is looking for a researcher interested in climate change and in developing tools to monitor progress towards the EU's climate targets.

Based in Ispra, Italy, the successful candidate will work on:

Support modelling of near-real-time carbon fluxes from forests, by integrating EarthObservation and/or hydrometeorological data into existing forest growth models (e.g., the Carbon Budget Model);

Contribute to assessing gaps and opportunities for the LULUCF sector to help reach the EU climate targets, through sectoral and integrated modelling scenarios and analyses of national policies;

Support improving the monitoring and reporting of land-related greenhouse gas fluxes in EU’s Member States, with the aim to increase confidence in the estimates of EU LULUCF budgets and trends;

Contribute to assessing the carbon sinks at global level in support of the Global Stocktake as foreseen by the Paris Agreement;

Synthesise data, information and knowledge on specific topics in the form of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals, international conferences, web content, briefs and reports to inform policy makers.
