November 2024 saw the INTERCEDE project’s first stakeholder forum in the city of Brussels and featured a presentation by ForestPaths WP1 lead Professor Diana Feliciano from Teesside University. The initial instalment of the Transdisciplinary Forum (TDF) format brings researchers and end-users together in an attempt to enable a knowledge exchange benefitting the future of forests.
Professor Feliciano’s presentation covered the importance of a transdisciplinary perspective when researching market-based mechanisms research. As part of her presentation, she brought up ForestPaths and its engagement with forest practitioners in countries in Europe to better understand the factors constraining and enabling Climate and Biodiversity-Smart forests. This wider outlook has been particularly evident in the exploration of the project’s demo cases. The corresponding workshops, held across four different countries, brought together a variety of scientific forest practitioners sharing contextual views about what needs to be in place to facilitate forest management that can equally contribute to climate change mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity protection.
